How Are We Making A Difference?
We give 5% of our proceeds from every product to bringing gender equality in the field of sports. We are doing this by partnering with organizations like Khel Khel Mein that encourage girls in sports. Our aim is to increase the participation by giving them easy access to sports and providing better training.
What Is The Cause?
Reasons like lack of access, social stigma and lack of positive role models are some of the causes. This in turn leads to lack of converge for women’s sports get and ultimately creates a pay gap.
- A new study by researchers Michael A. Messner and Michela Musto of USC, and Cheryl Cooky of Purdue University, suggests that women athletes are actually covered less in media now than they were in 1989. In 2014, only 3.2% of network television coverage was given to women’s sports; SportsCenter only gave women 2% of coverage.
- In march 2016, men’s and women’s World Twenty20 competitions were played simultaneously in India. The International Cricket Council funded all the men’s teams to fly business class, but only paid for the women’s teams to fly economy class. The total prize money for the men’s event was $5.6m – 16 times the $400,000 for the women’s tournament
